Your website is so inspiring, and I particularly appreciate all of the information regarding the memorial wall. My husband is a partner with Holland & Knight, and along with everyone else around the world, we watched in horror and prayed unceasingly as the events of that day unfolded. We prayed even harder when we heard that one of our partners (a volunteer firefighter) was missing. I say "our" partner here because the firm has always been like a family, and the spouses consider ourselves part of it, too.

Glenn Winuk was one of the first New York partners Fred remembers meeting when Holland & Knight merged with the firm in which Glenn was a member. At a firm meeting, Fred (who is normally quiet and reserved) decided to go sit at a table of New Yorkers to meet and welcome them to the firm, and Glenn was at that table. I can remember Fred coming home from the meeting and telling me he had met the nicest guy from New York, and they were friends from that day.

I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen my husband cry, and I've known him for forty years. Hearing the news about Glenn was one of those times. Glenn was not only brave, but a great guy, too. A true hero. He's not only our hero, but the world's hero, as are all of the firefighters who served that day.

What Glenn did, he did as a volunteer, and it was the highest form of volunteerism. He gave everything, so we owe him a debt of gratitude.
When given the opportunity to honor Glenn and the other brave firefighters from New York City, many people jumped at the chance to do what we could, and this wall seemed the perfect venue for a donation. While it can never make up for the loss of Glenn in his family's life or those of his friends and colleagues or for the loss of any of the fallen that day, I hope it helps to preserve the memory of people who are true heroes. What you do daily as firefighters is heroic and worthy of our deepest thanks. Hence, giving to the memorial wall was an honor.

A heartfelt thanks to you, too, for this website. It's beautiful. It's touching. And most of all, it's well deserved for the firefighters who risk their lives every day so that we might be safe.
May the Lord bless and watch over each of you, keeping you safe in return!

I was at Ground Zero yesterday and was amazed at just how close 10 House is located to the site. I was so moved when I saw the bronze plaque with the pictures of the men that were lost on 9-11-01. Thank you to all of you for your bravery and service.
